Countries Tennis Rankings on the Men’s Side — 2 Comments

  1. If Czech Republic is two times Davis Cup Champion (in a row-actual champion) how come is #6 in the ranking? Spain lost in the first round, and last year did not make to the semi-finals but is #1. Argentina lost in the first round this year and is #3. Russia is not even in the world group but is #5. Italy won the first round and is #9. I need help. Somebody has to let me understand the ranking system. I hope it does not go by the players’ ranking.

  2. It goes to a player’s ranking. If you look at the ranking you will see a number of players in top 100 from each country. For N 1 in the ranking – 100 points….for N 100 – 1 point. As concerns Davis Cup, as well as Fed Cup, not all players participate in these tournaments. Consider, for example, last Fed Cup final where were no Russian players from top 100.
