The Big Surprises of the Wimbledon 2014

We keep on discussing Wimbledon 2014 that continues to bring many surprises. Rafael Nadal was defeated by Australian teen Nick Kyrgios. It was many years ago when a teenagers won Grand Slams. Another sudden surprise came from Maria Sharapova who lost to Angelique Kerber. Therefore, chances of Roger Federer, Genie Bouchard and Simona Halep go up.

What do you think about these unexpected results?  Do you think that Nick Kyrgios can become a new tennis star and win this Wimbledon?

Michael Chang won the French Open as a teenager. I think he was the youngest man to win a major. Boris Becker won Wimbledon at 17 and 18. Pete Sampras was 19 when he won the U.S. Open. I watched the match. Nick Kyrgios reminded me of Sampras in the placement and unreturnability of his serve. He went big and showed no nerve. Rafael Nadal was undone by his opponent’s great serving, and his own second serve, which was predictable. I don’t think the match was a fluke, and I’m sure Roger Federer would rather face Kyrgios than Nadal.

Now I have to pick Simona Halep on the women’s side, but Genie Bouchard could still do it.
