When Is the Time to Go Full Time for Tennis Players? — 1 Comment

  1. Hi John,

    nice article.

Just want to say what is happening in the Czech Republic.

Look at the numbers: Czech Republic over 10mil people. And in TOP100 ATP 3 players, TOP100 WTA 11 players.

If I compare CZE and USA, this is unbelievable difference. Tell my why?

    Look at my story:

I was top10 in Czech U15, I want to hope TOP3 best club in Czech. I played every day twice + fitness … without Sundays. Than I flipped upside TOP2 U18 in Czech. (so much training in young age). I had contract with club and there was written: I can´t going to school I have to be concentrate 100% for tennis. Is it allright? They cannot guarantee that I can be TOP100 in the world. But they said yes you can why not? You have talent and good body preparation. My parents want everything for me and said ok.

After two years I was 841 and my knee was broke. Broken meniscus. 4 months out.

What you think they said? … true … We don´t need you anymore because here is lots of players and you are not perspective with injury and we don´t want to pay you.

So I was without tennis and school … I lost two years live. For nothing. This is system in Czech they take lots of players U15 and have unbelievable training and 95% players finished because of not motivated or injury.

Petra Kvitova my ages … I know her long time ago … look at her … she need break now because her body is down and head too.

Jiri Vesely … look at his … tell me anything about his bodysaying? I wish him all the best but I don´t think he can play longer time.

I think best age for doing full tennis is after high school. Player need to be clever. Need to understand other things. The time is different at this time nobody can win Grand Slam as Becker or Federer. You can play tennis till 30 no problem. And 12 years career is enough.

    What you think?
