Top Seven Greatest Tennis Players of All Time

When it comes to compiling the list of the greatest tennis players, there will always be people that have a different opinion – after all, everyone looks for different attributes in what makes someone great. However, most people will agree that Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal might be modern-day players but they’re up there in the list of the greatest tennis players of all time. Indeed, BBC sport commentator Andrew Castle echoes this sentiment. In an interview with Betway, he said that “Nadal with his determination and muscularity is genius, but I have to say I think I’ve seen the best tennis come from Novak’s racquet. He came to the party slightly after the other two, but I think he might have been the most remarkable.” Here’s a look at the players we love

Andre Agassi

During his tennis career, he became a really well-known name and has been able to carve out a career for himself as a sports personality since. The Las Vegas born player played professional tennis from 1986 to 2006 and is estimated to have made around $31million during this time. That said, with an Olympic gold medal, 61 career titles and 8 Grand Slam Singles Titles it isn’t surprising that his bank balance benefited.

John McEnroe

The West Germany born player managed to rack up an impressive 105 career titles in this time. He retired in 1992 after making an estimated $12 million; which for someone that played throughout the ’80s and early ’90s is pretty impressive. He also has 7 Grand Slam Singles Titles under his belt and was included in the Tennis Hall of Fame in 1999.

Pete Sampras

From Maryland, Pete Sampras managed to big himself an estimated $43million during his professional career. He retired from professional tennis in 2002 and moved to California to enjoy his winnings. Between 1998 and 2002 he won 14 Grand Slam Singles Titles and 64 career titles, which is pretty impressive by anyone’s standards.

Ivan Lendl

Playing professional tennis from 1978 to 1994, Lendl was then inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame in 2001. During his playing career, he is thought to have earned $21million thanks to 144 career titles and 8 Grand Slam Singles Titles.

Rafael Nadal

Nadal has been playing professional tennis since 2001 and is still going strong. The Spanish born player has earned an estimated $124million so far. That said, with a 2008 Olympic gold medal, 20 Grand Slam Singles titles and 88 career titles to his name it really isn’t a surprise that he has done well financially too!

Roger Federer

Federer is another player that has not yet retired – and he’s been playing professional tennis since 1998. His list of wins and achievements is incredible – 103 career titles and 20 Grand Single Singles titles has earned him an impressive $130million.

Novak Djokovic

Last but most definitely not least is Djokovic, another player that is still involved in professional tennis; he’s been playing since 2003. With 85 career titles and 20 Grand Slam Singles titles to his name, there are many people that would say that he is the current best player in the world.

There is no doubt about it; tennis has some amazing international players with a talent that is head to beat. If you’re looking for a sport that has adrenaline, talent and plenty of nail-biting moments then tennis is definitely one to keep your eye on. Wimbledon 2021 was seen as an event for people to look forward to, as a symbol of us returning to some sort of normality and there is no denying that was the case.
