Andy Murray defeated Novak Djokovic in Sunday’s Wimbledon final 6-4, 7-5, 6-4, and Britain’s 77-year wait for a home-grown champion is over. I hope, Murray will be able to win more Grand Slams in the future.
I discussed the Wimbledon results with a tennis coach. He briefly expressed his opinion regarding Wimbledon’s results and possible future stars on men’s side:
“It is pity that Agnieszka Radwanska lost to Sabine Lisicki in the semifinals. The women’s final was so terrible. It wasn’t the fault of Marion Bartoli, who played well and had a good game plan.
About men’s final. I thought it was very good, but not great tennis. Both players respect the other’s defense so much that neither was willing to pull the trigger. In addition, Novak Djokovic was misfiring on his backhands and refused to do much organist Andy Murray’s second serve. We need Boris Becker to return, and I don’t think it will happen. Grigor Dimitrov disappointed, and Jerzy Janowicz is just a bigger version of Milos Raonic.”
