Shaky Foundation. Part 1 — 2 Comments

  1. Usually a highly skilled technical coach not just an average coach or someone who decides coaching is easier than their old job is skilled in all facets of the game. I would rather have a highly skilled technical coach work with my player than any other type coach possible

    • Hi Roy, I will tackle some of those points in Part 2. Even highly skilled coaches are not experts in all areas related to high performance which leaves gaps in a players development. To be a true expert you need to immerse yourself in one niche area. I don’t believe it is possible for tennis coaches to be experts or even highly skilled in every aspect of the game or for every stage of development. I think it is a little unfair to expect this of any coach. But yes, obviously you want players working with coaches that are constantly learning and striving to be the best coach they can be rather than doing it just for pay check! I hope that you will read part 2 in a few weeks and provide some more feedback. Thanks Roy.
